You swipe in on someone asking where room 204 is, and within seconds the two strangers have agreed to get lost together. That is how The New Girl opens on Candy Shorts: lost on day one, with a girlfriend's warning still fresh.
Two newcomers, one girlfriend and a dorm door
Both leads are adult college students (18+), and the setting backs that up: classes, a courtyard, a dorm. She asks if he has a girlfriend. He says yes, Chloe. Chloe's own line, a reminder to behave because it's his first day, sets the rule the rest of the series exists to bend.
The cast stays tiny in the free pair. There is the guy, the woman from the hallway and Chloe, who in the free pair is a name and a phone call. With so few voices, the tension has nowhere to hide.

The books she forgot
In episode 1 she remembers she left her books behind, her dorm is right there and the walk takes five minutes. He goes along. Inside, he says "grab them and let's go." She answers with a flat no and tells him to sit, because she wants to show him something they don't teach in class. He asks if she means her notes. "If that makes you feel better, sure." The episode stops on the word notes.
The call he had to take
Episode 2 picks up on that same line. He says he has a girlfriend and can't do this. She asks if Chloe is the jealous type, he says she trusts him, and she calls that cute. Then the phone rings and it's Chloe. Someone tells him to answer, so he does. Chloe says class got canceled and wants to meet by the courtyard. He tells her he has another class in ten minutes. After the call, the closing line from inside the room is about the clock: ten minutes, and no reason for Chloe to know.
A door, a phone and a dressed screen
I watched both free episodes on a free account. I'd rate this one spice level 4, Fiery, a label about the paid half, and the full scale guide explains the five steps. Neither of the first two episodes shows nudity or sex, only a door, a phone and a lot of talk. The paid three are outside what I played, so I can't describe them here.
