The guest has been traveling since 5:00 that morning, phones in the double booking and ends the call on a flat "Great. Perfect." with no second room on offer. Next come a plan to change clothes, a warning not to be weird and a remark that the man has gone very quiet. Episode 1 closes on the guest, twelve hours in the same clothes, asking whether the stranger plans to just stand there.
Stuck here, with no name to use
Episode 2 opens with the guest telling the stranger he could have said something. Then a call comes in, the news earns a stunned wow, and the conclusion is that the two of them are stuck here. The questions that come next, about wants and names, get no caption in reply. The guest settles on a pet name for him, and the final line asks whether the silence is still going.
Tension without a reply
I rate Room 742 at spice level 4, Fiery, going by where the setup points. What I played stays short of that: no nudity, no sex, and a guest who does most of the talking. The guest, the stranger and the wife are adults, and the scale behind the number is laid out in the guide to how the levels work.
Three people matter: the guest, the stranger and, later in the setup, his wife. In the free pair the guest carries the dialogue, and no one is named. The guest asks the man for his name and gets silence, which is why the nickname lands as a joke. The wife belongs to the premise, not to anything a free account plays.
