Episode 1 opens with a departure and an order: Dad will be back Sunday night, and Riley must not let his son study all weekend. She says she will keep him busy, and your thumb has stopped in the Candy Shorts feed before the door closes.
That leaves two days at home for Riley and her adult stepson, a college student on a short break. She treats the assignment as an invitation, while he is slow to see it. The whole story is one weekend and one movie night.

Back Sunday Night
After Dad goes, Riley asks her stepson about a girlfriend back at college, and he says there is not one. She is glad to hear it. She tells him he took his time, and that the look he just gave her is not one Dad gives. He stammers, and she says she likes it.
Then she sets the evening: a movie together, horror or action, with the remark that Dad hates movies and a lot of things she likes. He wonders whether his stepmom is making a move, and the episode closes on the question "Do you wanna know what else?"
We're Getting Along Great
Episode 2 begins mid-scene, with Riley telling him to say no if he wants her to stop. Then Dad checks in. Riley says the two are getting along and that she is keeping him company, and the son adds that she is taking good care of him.
Dad repeats his study order, and Riley answers that the son is learning plenty. Dad signs off so they can get back to the movie. The episode ends with Riley steering toward bed, saying "Let's see what college taught you" and that this stays between the two of them.
What the first two episodes leave out

Riley, her husband and her stepson

My call on movie night
I watched the two free episodes from a free Candy Shorts login. The call from Dad is the sharpest beat of the pair, and the episode ends right where episode 3 starts asking for tokens.
